Did you ever wonder how fast is a baseball you throw? Well, formerly it use camera to record the the flying ball and use dedicated software to calculate the speed of it. That is normally for professionally use only, we ordinary people seldom have to chance to know our throwing speed. However, with this Speed Sensor Baseball from Markwort, now everybody got the chance to know how fast you can throw a baseball.

The Speed Sensor Baseball has a built in sensor implanted to record the speed automatically the moment the ball is released. All you have to do is measure distance between pitcher and catcher with included measuring string and choose one of 8 predetermined distances (6m, 9m, 12m, 14m, 16m, 18.44m, 21m and 24m), than press start and throw the ball. Once the catcher get the ball, the speed will be show at the LCD display in MPH. The baseball is in exactly official size and weight so the result you get from the test is exactly what you got on your real game.

However, noticed that the baseball is just from training aids so it could not be hit with a bat or on hard surfaces.

How many of you read the maps while you are traveling on some place you don’t know? Annoying isn’t? Because you have to fold and unfold the paper maps and may use your magnifying glass (someone need this) to read the map. not so convenient and sometimes take long time to exactly find where you are. Well, if you had the Maptor then this wouldn’t be a problem.

Designed by 2 students from Korea, Jin-Sun Park and Seon-keun Park, the Maptor is this wonderful combination of a map and projector by downloading a map on a Maptor device, a user can then project a map onto a surface such as the wall, ground, or a hand. For only size of a lipstick, the Maptor also included the GPS receiver, by simply pressing a button the machine turns on and tells you exactly where you are.

However, the Maptor is only a conceptual stage, that’s mean you will not seeing this device on the market.

For camping lovers who can’t live without their eco-friendly gadgets, the solar tent is a must have. UK mobile company Orange has created this cool tent with photovoltaic fabric – specially coated solar threads woven into conventional fabric – plus a heated groundsheet that triggers heat automatically once the interior temperature falls below a set level. There’s also a magnetic induction charging pouch and a wireless hub which displays energy generated and consumed and provides a wireless internet signal. All information is displayed on a flexible, touch enabled LCD display screen.

The solar tent also utilizes cool “glo-cation technology”, so if you wander too far from camp, simply activate either the SMS or RFID technology of your cell phone and the tent’s glow will guide you safely back. I’m not so sure how it is for sleeping – does the glow turn off with the flick of a button or keep going to ward off critters?
