Samsung S9110 – First Samsung Watch Phone

The Korea mobile phone manufacturer giant- Samsung, has unveiled it first wrist watch mobile phone – The Samsung S9110. Obviously the watch phone main rival is the LG watch phone – GD910, which is also from the same country that has been unveiled early this year. However, Samsung has moved one step ahead since the phone will be released later this month, but the GD910 has yet to hit the market until Q4 of this year in France for €450 ($640 US).

The Samsung S9110 watch phone features a 1.76-inch touchscreen, speakerphone, music player, Bluetooth, voice recognition and e-mail (Outlook sync) support. The watch does not compromise on quality too – the glass is scratch resistant and comes with stainless steel metal body and leather wrist belt. Also the phone support 900/1800MHz, has40MB internal memory and 630mAh battery.

Samsung also claims that the phone is the thinest watch phone on the world. It measure 57.5 x 41.1 x 11.98mm / 91g, just a normal size for a wrist watch.

URWERK compressed-air powered wristwatch

URWERK has released the world’s first watch that uses compressed air to regulate the winding system. The UR-202 features a 3-position selector switch that controls the level of air compression generated by its miniature twin turbines, which in turn control the rate of automatic winding.

Like URWERK’s previous line, the UR-103 series, the UR-202 features a distinctive time display, which uses rotating, telescopic minute hands that bear the number of the hour, and point toward a display at the bottom of the watch that marks the minutes. It’s a bit hard to explain, but you can see it in action in the promotional video.

The UR-103 series uses rotating circles in place of the tripod-like dial of the UR-202. It is also available in several designs, including a titanium aluminum nitride model and a diamond-set edition. The UR-103 features a power reserve indicator, a fine-tuning screw, and a chronometer on the bottom display.

URWERK SA was launched in 1997 by brothers Felix and Thomas Baumgartner and Martin Frei. Their stated mission is to advance the design of timepieces by drawing on wide-ranging sources of inspiration, from the NASA Space Shuttle to the classic sci-fi film Metropolis. The name URWERK is derived from “Ur” – the ancient Sumerian city where the concept of keeping time developed more than 6000 years ago – and “Werk” – German for work, create, evolve or shape.

This is the wristwatch that has three LEDs in its face that provide bright illumination or a soft, ambient glow. The LEDs are located at the Noon, four, and eight positions on the watch; the first press of the button causes the LEDs to generate soft blue light that illuminates the watch’s face–ideal for reading a theater program–and the second press generates bright white light. A third press of the button shuts off all LEDs. The white LEDs can illuminate subjects up to 10′ away, ideal for finding keys and opening a door at night. It is a wrist watch, and also is a phone. Yes, the phone that you watch on the spy’s movie is now become reality. This cool device,LG-GD910 was announced to be available in July 2009 by LG.

The features of LG-GD910 includes: a full touchscreen, MP3 music player, voice recognition, Stereo Bluetooth, Text to Speech (TTS) that reads text messages and other information out loud for even greater convenience, and 3G support (7.2 Mbps HSDPA). Thought it is not equipped with picture capturing camera, but it still has a video call camera.
