Mobile Internet Device (MID)

Actually smartphones are really act like a computer. But there are still some limitation to be a really computer. So designer Jan Rytir has come out with this Mobile Internet Device (MID) concept where the device is a computer in a cell phone size and able to make a phone call.

The device has a dimension of 180 x 80 x 20mm and come with an ultra wide LCD touchscreen that boasts of OLED technology, a 47 buttons QWERTY keyboard, a trackball and powered by an Intel Atom processor.

In order to make the device more like a computer, it also have two USB slots, a microphone, an audio input, an SD card reader, stereo speakers and a docking connector. However it is still in a concept stage, but I predict it will replace the smartphone one day. Who knows.

Sexiest Bookshelf In The Word

Can you see their is a word from the shape of this bookshelf? Yes, the word is “sexy”. This is design by a student designer – Arun Kumar Francis and it is only a concept, no real product available yet. But I really hope that there is a cool bookshelf in my house.

BadKast – Bathroom In Closet

Well, what you see is a closet AND a bathroom as well. Designer Avan der Lei invent this closet and bath into a single box of wood and named it BadKast. The designer said the idea was inspired by the Finnish saunas.

BadKast is a wooden bath that gives you the fresh feel of the sauna, a place where you can clean yourself and relax. Its kinda dressing room where you can dress and undress yourself before and after the bath! Unlike traditional bathrooms, this closet sauna can be taken anywhere in the house to suit your mood and give you a soothing and calm environment. Also, there are two doors (at the front and the back) that can be opened to allow you to feel connected to the environment. In a nutshell, it’s a smart bath that slyly hides in a closet.

Color Picker Pen – Duplicate Any Color You Want

This is not a ordinary pen, it is a weird pen. In fact, this is a pen that can replicate any color and become the ink of the pen. Just place the end of the pen against any object or surface to let the pen “read” the color, and the pen will automatically combine red, green, and blue ink within the pen and come out with exactly the color you want.

This pen win the Red Dot Design Award: design concept 2008 in education section, by designer Park Jinsun. It is currently just a concept.

Self-Energy Converting Sunglasses (SIG) – let the sunglasses charge your ipod

Conventionally, a sunglasses is to protect your eye from bright rays, or be a fashion accessories to show your own style. However, designers Hyun-Joong Kim and Kwang-Seok Jeong has another idea on it.

The SIG, or “Self-Energy Converting Sunglasses” is a recharge device that capture solar energy to recharge your small devices through the power jack at the back of the frame. The SIG lenses are equipped with dye solar cells so it can collect energy from the sun.

Looking forward for this idea to made in to a real product.

Alarm Clock With Breakfast

If you are live alone, I bet you are not having your breakfast every morning because of the laziness( Ok..i confess i am this kind of person).

If would be nice if the breakfast is served every time wake up in the morning. So the designers design in French invented this Alarm clock that can wakes you up with a nice breakfast automatically.

Just remember the toaster is loaded and the juice, coffee, and/or chocolate are in their respective slots, set the alarm and the well rounded breakfast will be ready when you wake up at the next morning.

Virtual Cocoon -engage five sense in a helmet

A group of student from Universities of York and Warwick has developed a helmet-like virtual reality devices that can let you not only see and hear but also can smile, touch and taste. In other words the gadget – “Virtual Cocoon” will bring you brings your five Senses into Virtual Reality.

This virtual helmet has a high-definition screen, and internal speakers for surround sound. There are also tubes connected to one’s nose and mouth that sprays chemicals mimicking the scents and flavors associated with a visual, which make you feel more realistic.

The Virtual Cocoon will be hit the market in about five years and will be cost about 1,500 pounds ($2,675).
