How many of you read the maps while you are traveling on some place you don’t know? Annoying isn’t? Because you have to fold and unfold the paper maps and may use your magnifying glass (someone need this) to read the map. not so convenient and sometimes take long time to exactly find where you are. Well, if you had the Maptor then this wouldn’t be a problem.

Designed by 2 students from Korea, Jin-Sun Park and Seon-keun Park, the Maptor is this wonderful combination of a map and projector by downloading a map on a Maptor device, a user can then project a map onto a surface such as the wall, ground, or a hand. For only size of a lipstick, the Maptor also included the GPS receiver, by simply pressing a button the machine turns on and tells you exactly where you are.

However, the Maptor is only a conceptual stage, that’s mean you will not seeing this device on the market.

The Wooden motherboard was created by installing copper wires to eucalyptus wood peels, with dimension of 52cm x 27cm. This brilliant idea was come from a designer from Israel, Omer Deutsch. However, there is no more news about the using result and would this wooden device be produce or not. If this wooden motherboard really works, than our computer in the feature would be more eco-friendly and cheaper.

After giving the base a future in this the timer gradually releases its energy powering the LED light as it winds.
When upright, it performs like a standard door but, it’s far from it. Just flip the inner panel down and you are ready for your ping pong action. However, the width of the door is still smaller than the standard ping pong table size. At least you want you door as big as the ping pong table, otherwise compromise with it.

A washing machine that cuts water usage by 90% is due to hit American shores next year. The Xeros washing machine, which takes its name from the Greek word for “dry”, cleans clothes using reusable nylon polymer beads with an inherent polarity that attracts stains.

The beads are added to the wash along with as little as a cup of water and a drop of detergent. After the water dissolves the stains, the beads, which become absorbent under humid conditions, soak up the water along with the dirt. The dirt is not just attracted to the surface, but is absorbed into the center of the beads.

The beads are removed automatically within the machine at the end of the load so there’s no need for the user to worry about separating the beads themselves. They also don’t require cleaning and can last for about 100 loads or laundry, or about six months of average family usage.

Since the Xeros doesn’t require a rinse or spin cycle the it uses just 2% of the energy of conventional washing machines, cutting CO2 emissions on top of the water savings. The energy savings are further enhanced by the fact that the clothes come out nearly dry, meaning no power-hungry clothes dryer is required. Xeros claims that, taking all these factors into account, its machine achieves a 40% reduction in carbon emissions over conventional washing and drying.

The technology was developed by researchers at Leeds University who have established a spin-off company called Xeros Ltd to market the technology.

“We will not make the machines ourselves so are inviting interest from machine manufacturers who would want to partner with us to bring the Xeros system to the market,” Xeros Ltd CEO, Bill Westwater, told Gizmag.

Westwater went on to say that the company plans to launch the technology in the commercial laundry market first “with a target date of late 2010.”

“After we are established in this commercial sector we will certainly be examining how we can compact the technology so that it can fit into consumer homes.”

The Heinz Beanzawave is the world’s smallest, portable microwave oven from the American food company Heinz. It’s allow workers tied to their desks to create a warm snack, or hot drink, to see them through the day. It is a ideal gadget for those busy worker as well as the hard-working student through the many hours of lonely revision.

This small but hot device, measuring 7.4(H) x 6.2(W) x 5.9(D) inches, can be powered via a link to the USB port on a laptop computer. It also said to be use of a combination of mobile phone radio frequencies to create the heat to cook both on the outside and within in under a minute. Not really clear how’s this work, but we will see it when this prototype make into real product.

Driverless vehicles are already has been discussed for many years. Unfortunately most of them are still at the conceptual stage, we are not seeing those real driverless vehicles on the road for real, except those we saw on the movies one. However, this CyCab is the one nearest to production.

Developed by French company INRIA over 10 years, the Cycab is just looks like a golf cart. It uses a laser to avoid obstacles in its pathand a dual-lens camera to follow road markings. It can even be navigated from a mobile phone.

The Cycab remind me the KITT car from the popular TV series Knight Rider, which starred David Hasselhoff, which is the car has an automated voice gives information to passengers along the route. Beside of that each CyCab also communicates via the internet which allows vehicles to share information so that they can follow one another at a small distance, or surf the web and gather real-time traffic information so that they can avoid traffic jams.

CyCab is not quite ready for mass production, but it should see some uses in the near future. In fact, the ULTras, the British version of the CyCab will appear to be used to transport passengers from Heathrow’s Terminal 5 in November of 2009. But before that, let’s take a look of this car at the demonstration’s video first.

It seems too slow isn’t it?

Where is the place is best for receive solar energy in a human body? the answer would be at the top of our head, the nearest the better? Perhaps. A student at the Transylvania University of Brasov, Shepeleff Stephen developed a Bluetooth headphones, called the Q-SOUND, which charge themselves using the energy of the sun that beam to our head.

The Q-SOUND is a Bluetooth headset which could be used with any Bluetooth-enabled device such as digital audio player/MP3 player. It is not only can the user listen to their music, but he or she can also take phone calls from a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. There is also a 3.5 mm jack included in this headset for in case Bluetooth isn’t available.

There are two removable rechargeable NiMH batteries with an electric capacity of 800mAh and operating voltage of 1.2V operate as the eccentricities storage. And a full charged headset is able to run for up to 40 hours. For Q-SOUND headphones, one hour of sun yields more than 2.67 hours of working at maximum volume selection.

Although Q-SOUND is only in conceptual stage, but I think this idea will eventually become a real product.
